Day 1
Arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi in the morning. Receive and transfer to Gat Safaris for breakfast. Transfer to Arusha shuttle at 2 pm with trekking guide. Mineral water will be provided on arrival. Reach Arusha around 7.30 pm and transfer to Arusha Centre Inn on bed and breakfast basis. Dinner and overnight at the Inn.
Day 2
After breakfast, depart for Moshi, a town on the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro, with the trekking guide. Transfer to Moshi Keys Hotel on bed and breakfast basis. Day at leisure to prepare for the trek next morning. Lunch, dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3
Scenic drive to Marangu Park Gate through the coffee and banana plantations. After completing park formalities, proceed with the climb to reach the virgin forest and arrive after four hours at the Mandara hut at 2,750 m.a.s.l. Picnic lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at Mandara hut.
Day 4
After breakfast proceed to Horombo hut, at 3,720 m.a.s.l, following a track through the forest and through the savanna bush for the next four hours. This is an excellent place on this route for acclimatization, while gaining the altitude slowly. Overnight at Horombo hut.
Day 5
From Horombo hut climb for five hours through the lava rocks and lobelias to reach the Kibo hut, at the foot of the peak 4,703 m.a.s.l for dinner and overnight.
Day 6
Begin to attempt the summit climb at approximately 2330 hrs, arriving at the rim at Gilman’s Point, recognized as the top at 5,744 m.a.s.l. Continue trekking along the rim to attain the summit at Uhuru Peak 5,895 m. After witnessing the sunrise and taking photos, it is here that you can have that feeling “I have conquered Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain of Africa”. Descend to Horombo hut for dinner and overnight. This day of trekking is 10 – 12 hours in duration; lunch is served during the trek.
Day 7
After breakfast, descend to Marangu Gate, meet the waiting driver and drive back to Arusha Centre Inn for a hot shower and celebratory dinner and overnight.
Day 8
After lunch transfer to Nairobi shuttle departing at 2 pm to arrive in Nairobi at 7.30 pm. Transfer to Nairobi hotel on bed and breakfast basis. Dinner and overnight in Nairobi hotel.
Day 9
Free morning in Nairobi for sightseeing and shopping. Transfer after lunch to JKIA for the return flight home.
